 BRIEF HISTORY

After 45 kilometers of drive on the unpaved road from Lhuentse towards the extreme corner to the North, is Dungkar, a village of pure Kurtoepas. It is of now, well known in the nation as of its significance in the history.

The record of the history discloses that the name of the place was originated from the physical shape of the land. The place bears the exact shape of a conch shell. We can see the landform of the village from a place called Tabanchang. The school is an altitude of 2100 meters above sea level.

 The school was formally inaugurated in mid August 1976 by Mr. Kezang Wangdi, the first head teacher with 17 boys and 10 girls with two sections of LKG.

Initially, the school was housed in the third floor of the four-storied Nagtshang, the ancestral house of Trongsa Ponlop Jigme Namgyel (father of Sir Ugyen Wangchuk, the first king of Bhutan)..

In 1980, the school was upgraded to include classes I to III and in 1984 Mr. DN Uraon from Samtse took over the charge of the schools as the next head teacher. In 1990, the third head teacher of the school, Mr. S.B Rai from Tshirang took over the administrative charge of the school.

In 1995, the 4th head teacher, Mr.Tobzang from Trash gang took over the charge of the school. In 1997, the construction of the school was funded by UNICEF. In 1999, the 5th head teacher was, Mr. DB Chhetri from Tsirang, joined the school. Mr. Karma Dorji 6th Head joined the school and the construction was completed in August of the same year. The new school was subsequently shifted to present location. In 2005, the charge of the school was taken over by Mr. Sonam Zangpo as a Principal with 183 students ranging from PP- VI .Presently the school has 118 under the principal ship of Mr.Tenzin Wangdi.
