The Million Fruit Tree Plantation (MFTP) is a vision of His Majesty the King to enhance farmer’s income and nutrition. Its objective is to introduce technically suitable diverse high value fruit crops to enhance income of the rural households.

On 5th February, 2024, coinciding with the 8th Birth Anniversary of His Royal Highness The Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck, the Hon’ble Dasho Dzongdag inaugurated the Third Phase Million Fruit Trees Plantation. The ceremony was attended by the Representatives from Lhuentse dratshang, Gangzur gewog officials, Desups and officials from Dzongkhag administration.

During the launching ceremony, the Chief Guest and other guests planted 8 kiwi seedlings symbolizing the 8th Birth Anniversary of His Royal Highness The Gyalsey.
